Hi Craig,
Your MTB trip towards the Central Methodist Church sounds hair raising…
I study at Wits too, have a MTB and prefer to ride it in places without vehicles. With this petrol price though, it starts looking like I should look at riding it to Wits too. Friends of mine ride to work in Sandton, but they can jump curbs. I don’t…yet.
Yip, I ride most everywhere. Jozi CBD makes for an interesting trip. I started cycling way back in 1988 when I crashed my mini during the second week of varsity. dumbass!
I’ve slid down the side of a putco bus, had a doberman chew on my calf and outsprinted muggers – to name just a few experiences. Memories!!
There are a few clubs around Jozi that you can join like rockhoppers and swampdogs. Plenty of incredible single track available!
Leave a note at the journalism office (Judy) if you wan to go riding sometime. Alternatively mail me.

Do you commute to work on your bike?
